David Diethelm

David Diethelm is a painter, illustrator, printmaker and publisher whose work has evolved from documenting external shifts to exploring internal concepts. While his earlier series, such as The Signs Were There and Covid Bubbles, captured the distortion and isolation of the pandemic era, his more recent work turns inward.

This shift is exemplified in pieces like ‘Suns in Rain, Rise’ (main image), where Diethelm moves away from reactive subject matter toward a focus on pure thought, atmosphere, and layered abstraction. By utilizing a rich interplay of color and texture, he invites viewers to find their own meaning within the canvas. Whether working in oil, watercolor, encaustic, pyrography, printmaking or digital illustration, David continues to push the boundaries of perspective—a hallmark of his style seen in his Roads, Contrails and Covid Bubbles series.

Beyond the studio, David is the Publisher of Eco-Justice Press, the founder of TinyArtGallery.org, and currently serves as the Board Vice President of New Zone Gallery. Explore more of his work at DavidDiethelm.com.
