India Lily

I have been drawing all my life, it is the one thing entirely my own that has always made me happy. I have no formal training, but had a wonderful art teacher in high school who gave me freedom and encouragement.
I endeavor to create art from a place that prioritizes my relationship to it. I draw things that move me, either to process my own feelings, or to escape from them. I’m inspired by both the heaviness and the brilliance of the human experience, and I create what feels necessary to my inner self at the time, whether from a place of spooky anguish or ebullient levity. My art helps me keep these forces in balance.
I want to extend a thank you to Diane Hill, whose classroom was a respite from difficult life, and to my therapist, who encouraged me to believe maybe my art was worth seeing.
