About the Artist
|
"My interest in art began at an early age and it has always been a part of my life. I taught elementary school for over 30 years and was able to integrate art in all curriculum areas. I retired from teaching in 2001 and now have the freedom to explore and evolve as an artist.
"Painting and photography both offer me a way to express my creativity, but acrylic/collage is my primary medium. I am experimenting with color, paint application and surface texture. I use modeling paste and varied paper materials to create a flow of fabric and texture to the surface. I buy decorative paper with patterns and bright colors, or paint and decorate paper myself to create the vision I am looking for. "My art is influenced by my experiences living in foreign countries for six years. I traveled extensively and still do. The color and excitement of other cultures has been a major source of inspiration. My preference is painting portraits and figures but I have been exploring other subject matter.
