About the Artist |
"After 35 years of working as a psychologist, I retired and decided to take up watercolor painting. This took tremendous courage on my part because I could barely draw a stick figure. Eight years later, I have come a long way. My work as a therapist and the time I’ve spent living abroad have deeply influenced the way I interpret imagery and the way I work with color, texture and form. Currently, I spend half the year living in Eugene, where I focus my artistic practice on ceramics and watercolors. The other half of the year I live in Bali, Indonesia. There I focus on oil painting; another medium that initially intimated me, but now I find richly rewarding. "I am grateful I did not let self-consciousness keep me from pursing art. I encourage others who feel self-conscious about their artistic ability to overcome their fears and try taking an art class. If you can find the courage to stick with it, you will improve with time and practice. The joy of creating is a precious gift." -Margie Templeton Medium: Watercolor and oil paint Email: [email protected] |
