Diane Seals
About the Artist |
Colorado provided the backdrop for Diane’s birth as well as an art playground during her formative years. Functional, whimsical objects, like flowered papier-mâché toy horse barns and woven pet dog collars were the creations of her formative years. Inspired by the natural beauty surrounding her, she was drawn to using repurposed items and natural elements in her creations. Her education was enhanced at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she received a B.A. degree in art.
Functionality and whimsy continue to infuse her work, and her ultimate goal is to draw a smile from the viewer. Often the desire to repurpose a functional item to bring out its inner whimsy inspires a creation. Old lamps inspired her most recent papier-mâché works about inner dog thoughts. She is also creating ceramic totems and banks made from earthen ware and acrylic painted canvas floor-cloths. Diane lives in Junction City, Oregon, and is a partner and member with her husband, Steve in Art Objects LLC, their art and craft business. Diane plans to enjoy the quirkiness Oregon provides and infuse it into her art. |
