Julie Anderson
I have a BFA and have been balancing a career in tech with doing art for the past 20 years. I’m now doing art full time, and teaching corporate art classes with the Arts and Business Alliance of Eugene. I’m also a board member of Lane Arts Council.
Recently, I have been focusing on monoprints and image transfer using a gel pad, creating my own stencils from canvas, and then embellishing the prints with the canvas circles and other cut paper, creating a sort of a "cheater's" version of chine-colle without a press. I'm also experimenting with melted Tyvek and tissue paper on the gelpad, then affixing the finished work onto canvas, canvas sheets, and boards and even furniture. I enjoy innovating with the materials I have around me to create new ways of doing things. Mixed-media is a way of life for me. I make monoprints and collages, and enjoy bursts of custom decorating everyday things like furniture, suitcases, lampshades, flower pots, and even kitchen cabinet doors with acrylic paint and dots of 3D puff-paint. Art is everywhere. Color, texture and form are interesting and dynamic. |
