About the artist
"Though skill and planning are involved in bringing to fruition whatever vision I may have, working with watercolor I must let go of expectations, of totally controlling what I think will happen, and follow what is developing . Being totally present when I pick up the brush is crucial.
I use the same creative spirit and art principles when creating a stained glass mosaic, often beginning a piece with a simple concept and/or attraction to a particular piece of glass. Beginning a mosaic requires flexibility as the work evolves, with the piece itself finally dictating, e.g., the shape, tone or color.. As more control is possible with the process of mosaic work than watercolor, I can more easily walk away from it, letting thoughts, feelings, and ideas about a project simmer. My goal in both my art and my life, is to integrate these artistic approaches: using my skill, and allowing my creativity and spontaneity to guide me.
I have shown at Palace Bakery and Full City Coffee sites, and continue to do so; Café Soriah; at the Expresso PRNs at Sacred Heart Hospital, and Willamalane Senior Center in Springfield. My first watercolor show was in 1998 at the Gazebo restaurant in Eugene. I have been published in Tikkun magazine, fall of 1999, and last year was included in the Register Guard’s Thursday artists’ column."
