Artist's Statement
As a teen and my first years in the US Air Force, I was an active oil and acrylic painter. Not sure why, but for the next 50 years, never pick up a pallet or brush. My dad was a protectional photographer, a student of Ansel Adams; so as a kid, spent hours with him waiting for the perfect storm on a turnout at Yosemite.
Just before retirement, two years ago, painted a few scenes that have been in my brain for years. Now ideas come my way that needs to be express behind someone’s sofa or piano. I look for stuff that “pops”. If I don’t feel the state-of-mind for a scene or subject, it gets filed into the “someday box”. I use my full name, Stephen James Clark, because there are so many Steve and James-Clark artists on Google, I’m hard to find. Hope you enjoy my work. |
